{Into the Wilderness} Mingling with Trees + Gazing at Stars

Monday, June 10, 2013

A little time was spent this past weekend in the great outdoors, not quite roughing it, but actually curled up in organic sheets at an eco-friendly bed + breakfast in Bayfield Peninsula. Here's a visual recap of the discovery expedition {in which yours truly discovers she loves pitching a tent under the stars just as much as she loves a warm, cozy bed at a quaint, sustainable inn}. A gal can get used to this.

{traversing nature} time spent unwinding + taking in the fresh air on a porch swing reading LAIKA.

{roasting marshmallows} vegan cuisine made especially for yours truly by b+b innkeepers, nancy + steve.

{studying flora} i admit to pruning plants at the b+b while no one was looking: i can't help it. i don't have a garden + it's oh so relaxing for me.

{scouting fauna} eagles, otters + bears are to be found on the apostle islands. eagle spotting? check. otter sighting? maybe next time. bears? one outside the door of our b+b on sunday morning.

{setting up camp} this is pinehurst inn. off grid + easy access to the outdoors. perfect for recharging.

{roughing it} it's easy to unplug in a historic house built in 1886 with original details such as this.

{hunting + gathering} oh, books, glorious books. chequamegon fine books + coffee. spent an entire afternoon browsing + adopting antique books for my collection. more e.e. cummings? yes, please.

{mapping new territory} blue skies + lots of sunshine: just what the doctor ordered.

i had fun journaling my adventures with my trusty nikon which is always by my side now. i never leave home without it. oh, except when a bear appears. then i may have left it in the car. eek.
