{eco brand of the week} olsen haus + rocket man

Friday, September 27, 2013

in june of 2011 i traveled to new york with the express intent of viewing alexander mcqueen's savage beauty exhibit at the metropolitan museum of art. mcqueen's olio of work was decidedly emotional, often times absurd, and always palatial + masterful in its construction.

each garment a fantasy unto itself, I was left with a feeling of awe + wonder, both mentally and visually stimulated. petals + bones, horns + wings, it was an otherworldly and indelible collection. after his untimely death in 2010, vogue editor-at-large hamish bowles extolled mcqueen's career as one "characterized by ceaseless invention," and applauded his body of work as a, "wondrous testament to the passion and courage of his convictions."

when artists are imbued with a vision, it seems imperative that they release their works unto the world. elizabeth olsen is one such artist whose values + ethics guide her design hand. olsen is the founder of the vegan footwear label olsen haus, a cruelty-free brand that reflects her passion for animals, the environment, transparent business practices and social responsibility.

i've written about olsen haus before, and season after season olsen continues to impress with design-led, sexy shoes + boots. the continued popularity of olsen's designs is evidence of the growing influence of vegan style on the global fashion market. the wave of the future is here, boys + girls. cruelty-free + fashion-forward on planet earth, right here, right now.

check out these artful + fine looking heels. dispelling the myth that jedi fans are not the coolest cats on the block are these star wars-inspired creations.
