{meet the locals} munch cafe in oak park

while my passion for eco fashion rules my thoughts most days + nights, sometimes i venture into the world of food on this blog when i find something so delicious and nutritious that it jostles my sustainable style thoughts right off the top of my brain. the culprit? munch cafe in oak park.

this weekend i met up with some of my best gal pals at munch in oak park. this restaurant is a vegetarian + vegan eatery offering some of the best smoothies around and a lovely menu full of familiar and tasty comfort foods. pancakes, "eggs + bacon" and breakfast burritos are just some of the vegan options that we had the pleasure of trying. i've had a killer kale salad here before with the house vinaigrette, and i highly recommend it. and don't leave without trying at least one of these: gf coconut lime cake, gf turtle bars or the peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies.

if you're in chicago, it's worth the drive. visit munch at 104 n marion street. oh, and good old-fashioned paper currency is all these good folks will accept in exchange for their vegan delights. don't do what i did: instagram a pic of their super clever "cash only" sign {johnny cash + kitten with ginourmous words reading CASH ONLY} and then hand the cashier your bankcard. this simply won't do, my friends. not to worry, there's an atm on site for your convenience. nominal fee for use. check out their ample menu here.
